Slowing Down

 Restful | Winter, 2025

Couple with moving boxes

Dear Clients and Friends,

Winter invites us to find a different pace, and lately I’ve been choosing more stillness. I’ve been turning inward and tending to my home and my spirit with gentle attention. I’m rushing less and noticing more. A mug of tea warming my hands. My dog sniffing along a trail. The slant of light coming through my office window. A half-finished puzzle waiting on the table for my return.

This is my season of re-nesting—exploring what Home looks like now that my wonderful girls are finding their way in the wide world. It's a time to settle in, to restore, to discover where this next chapter will take me. I’m learning to pay attention to my energy instead of pushing past it, to rest without guilt, to listen when my body and heart whisper slow down.

I encourage you to give yourself permission to move through the holiday season at a pace that works for you. I hope you find ways to create warmth and meaning not through doing more, but through being present.

Creating Space for a Calm and Nurturing Holiday Season

What if, this year, you choose to create a holiday season that truly reflects who you are and what you value most?

Here are four ways you can slow down and create more space for the people, traditions, and experiences that truly nurture you.

1. Let your intentions shape your choices

Take a moment to reflect on what matters most to you this season. Imagine what your month might look like if your calendar reflected your true intentions.

  • What would you let go of?

  • What would you like to create space for?

Say no to what feels heavy or out of alignment. Simplifying your commitments is not selfish—it’s a way of honoring yourself and those you love.

2. Reimagine your traditions

Traditions can be beautiful anchors, but they can also become obligations. When something that once brought joy now feels like a chore, it may be time to change things up.

Ask yourself:

  • Which traditions still light you up?

  • Which ones can be reshaped or released with gratitude?

  • Are there new rituals that could better reflect who you are now?

Sometimes letting go creates space for new memories and experiences to emerge naturally.

3. Give gifts that deepen connection

This season, consider stepping away from the rush of buying. Focus instead on simple, heartfelt and deeply personal gifts that nurture connection and meaning.

  • Whenever possible, gift an experience that celebrates what you both love.

  • Express your care with something homemade, handwritten or creative.

When gifts are given with love and intention, they become lasting expressions of gratitude for the connection you share.

4. Offer yourself the gift of rest

In a season that so often asks us to give, remember that rest is also a form of generosity—to yourself and to those around you. When you are rested, grounded, and aligned with your values, you bring a steadier, more peaceful energy to your home and community.

My wish for you is that you create a season that reflects your true priorities. May you begin to clear away what no longer fits and cherish the peace, joy, connection that remains.
